Shanghai Art Week: France is In!

It was a great honor and pleasure to work with the teams of the Embassy of France in China, the French Consulate in Shanghai, and the Institut français on the communication strategy and implementation of “Shanghai Art Week: France is In!”, an artistic program highlighting French projects in the visual arts taking place in the city during the week of the art fairs.

As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of France-China diplomatic relations, the “Shanghai Art Week: France is In!” program built on long-term partnerships between institutions and artists from both countries and highlighted the vitality of the French artistic scene both established and emerging, as well as the dynamism of French art galleries and the excellence of French craftsmanship.

The art fairs West Bund Art & Design and ART021 Contemporary Art Fair welcomed 15 galleries and 4 institutional booths from France, while a delegation of 12 curators and representatives from major French cultural institutions and 8 artists were invited by the Institut Français and the Embassy to discover the local scene and meet potential partners. Additionally, more than 20 projects in modern and contemporary art, fashion, design and craftsmanship, immersive experiences, and public art could be enjoyed across town.
