Laurent Le Bon is the President of the National Picasso Museum in Paris and the co-curator of the exhibition “Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou: 1906-1977”, which opened on October 7, 2016 at Shanghai Exhibition Center. On October 10, Laurent Le Bon was in Shanghai to give a conference in a packed room of nearly 250 people. Co-organized by MB Projects and hosted by Marion Bertagna, his very first conference in China was a unique occasion for the public to discover one of the most brilliant curators and museum directors in France today: in his very personal manner, full of culture and humor, Laurent Le Bon presented his take on the identity of a museum and introduced his vision of exhibition curating through examples of his past realizations.

About Laurent Le Bon

Presently President of Musée National Picasso in Paris, Laurent Le Bon is one of the most prominent curators and museum directors in the world. Until 2014, Laurent Le Bon was Director of Centre Pompidou-Metz, the new branch of Centre Pompidou in western France, the opening of which he very successfully conducted. He organized several publicly and critically highly regarded multidisciplinary thematic exhibitions such as “Chefs d’oeuvre?” and “1917”. Before that, Laurent Le Bon was a curator at the Centre Pompidou, which he joined in 2000. He curated several exhibitions there, including the groundbreaking “Dada” exhibition in 2005. He was also one of the curators of the Chinese contemporary Art exhibition “Alors, la Chine?” in 2004. Laurent Le Bon organized several exhibitions at Versailles, inviting artists like Jeff Koons in 2008, Xavier Veilhan in 2009 and Takashi Murakami in 2010. He was artistic director of the 2012 edition of Nuit Blanche in Paris. A graduate of the Ecole du Louvre, Sciences-Po and the National Heritage School, Laurent Le Bon is also a professor at the Ecole du Louvre and Sciences-Po Paris.
