MB News | Shanghai Young Art Fair is back!

Posted on Jun 28, 2016 in MB News

Following its successful launch in 2015, Shanghai Young Art Fair (SHYAF) is back for its second edition, on July 1st-4th, 2016, at Shanghai Exhibition Center. Dedicated to the promotion and support of emerging or undiscovered artists, SHYAF will present nearly 300 promising artists below the age of 45 from all over China and offer their works for sale: a great opportunity for established or new collectors, art institutions, critics, and art enthusiasts to discover new trends and talents in the visual arts and collect their artworks. MB Projects is happy to be helping SHYAF on their international communications.

The main theme of SHYAF 2016 is Transience Metro: Scape, which is designed to explore the interaction between the youth art and cities and their transformations.

Presented by their galleries, by curators, or selected through an open application process, all the artists exhibited in the Fair are given the opportunity to show, introduce, and sell their artworks, which will be organized into several main sections:
1. The “Special Curated Exhibition” Section
2. The “Galleries” Section (11 galleries)
3. The “Future Potential” Section (139 artists)
4. The “Top 18”, a label for the 18 best artists within all sections.

Responsible for selecting the artists from the “Future Potential” and the “Top 18” sections, the 2016 SHYAF Academic Committee is composed of YANG Jinsong, Professor at China Academy of Art, SU Xinping, Professor at China Central Academy of Fine Arts, LI Xiaoshan, Curator at the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts, Professor at Nanjing University of the Arts, and Art Critic, and DING Yi, Artist. The curators of the “Special Curated Exhibition” section are YU Ke, Professor at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and Art Critic, and DU Xiyun, Independent Curator.

In addition to the main exhibition sections, SHYAF proposes a series of other activities, including an interesting program of conferences and artist talks, such as a talk by well-known musician and artist Zuoxiao Zuzhou (in Chinese).
